This mini-collages deals with another species that specializes in decay, the decomposers. Nature has a way of controlling matter, otherwise the world would be heaped with detritus. The decomposers process decaying matter through their parasitic practice of growing on dead matter thus breaking it down into fine composted material.
In this collage, I picked five animals that perform this job very efficiently by eating the material that is then processed through their body. The rich byproduct supports new, young plants competing for a position in the woodland ecosystem. The recyclers are: sow bug, red wrigglers, springtail, millipede and remite)
