During the 1980’s there was a weekly television show called "Knight Rider" that showcased an up and coming male performer who later produced a series about scantily clad female and muscular male life guards. My subjects of this collage are not lifeguards but bats. I thought the name of that television show was applicable to these flying mammals.
This furry flyer efficiently controls insect populations in the United States. Bats also eat flowers, fruits, frogs, fish, and other mammals among other things. They are night "riders" and consume large amounts of night flying insects including the human pest, the mosquito. Among the abstract forms enhancing the design of this piece are several hidden insects that the bats enjoy...American Fly, Armyworm Moth, Gypsy Moth, Tomato Hornworm Moth, White-lined Sphinx and Imperial Moth.
